Privacy Policy
Last updated: 6 November 2026
The short version. 4Arcs keeps the data it needs to run your contract, your streak and your friends, and nothing else. No ads, no tracking across other apps, no selling your data. You can delete your account and everything in it from inside the app at any time.
Who we are
4Arcs ("the app", "we", "us") is made by an independent developer based in the European Union. We are the controller of the personal data described here. For anything about your privacy, write to contact@4arcs.app.
What we collect
Your account
- Without an account. You can use 4Arcs without signing up. The app then creates an anonymous ID, so your contract can be saved. It holds no name or email.
- With an account. Your email address and a password (stored only as a secure hash by our login provider), or the basic profile your Google account shares when you sign in with Google (name, email, and a unique ID).
- Your name and date of birth, asked for when you create an account. Your date of birth is how we check you are 16 or older. Both are private: only you can see them, on your Account page. Other people only ever see your nickname.
What you put into the app
- Your contract: its name, its tasks, targets, schedules, plans and any notes you write on a task.
- What you log each day, the dates you logged it, and what follows from that: your streak, freezes, stats and badges.
- Focus sessions: when they started, how long they ran and which task they were for.
- Your profile: the nickname you choose (with its #number) and the avatar you build.
- Social features: your friends list and friend requests, the members of a contract you share, and your points on a contract's leaderboard and in the season's ranking.
- Arcs Coins: your balance and the history of what you earned and spent.
- Purchases: if you subscribe or buy something, whether your purchase is active. The payment itself is handled by Apple or Google. We never see your card details.
What stays on your phone
- Reminders are scheduled on your device. We do not send push notifications from a server.
- Flip Start reads your phone's motion sensor while the Focus screen is open, only to tell whether the phone is face down. These readings never leave your phone and are not stored.
- Your app settings, such as Focus settings.
What we do not collect
No location, no contacts, no photos, no microphone, no health data, no advertising ID. We do not use analytics or advertising tools, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
Who can see what
- Your friends (only people whose request you accepted) see your nickname, avatar, title and badges, your streak, your progress for the day and overall, how many days you have logged, how many tasks you have, and your total Focus time. They see your contract's name only if it is a shared contract or an unrenamed preset; a private name stays private.
- Members of a contract you share see its name and tasks, and everyone on its leaderboard sees each other's nickname, avatar and points.
- The season's ranking shows the names of shared contracts and their scores.
- Your task notes, what you logged on each task, and your individual Focus sessions are never shown to anyone else.
Why we use it
We use your data to provide the app you asked for: to save your contract and progress, to keep them in sync across your devices, to run friends and leaderboards, to send you the emails you request (confirming your email, resetting your password), and to keep the service safe from abuse. Under the GDPR the legal basis is the performance of our contract with you (Art. 6(1)(b)), and our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure (Art. 6(1)(f)), for example by limiting how many emails can be sent to one address.
Services we rely on
| Service | What it does for us | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Functions, Hosting) | Sign-in, storing and syncing your data, running the app's server code, hosting this site | Your app data is stored in the EU. Sign-in data may be processed in the US. |
| Google Sign-In | Signing in with your Google account, if you choose to | |
| Resend | Sending our account emails from noreply@4arcs.app | EU sending region; the company is based in the US |
| Apple, Google Play | Store purchases and subscriptions | Apple, Google |
| RevenueCat | Checking whether a purchase is active | US |
They process data only on our instructions. Where data leaves the European Economic Area, it is protected by the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
How long we keep it
- For as long as you have an account or a contract in the app.
- Deleting your contract (Settings → Contract) deletes it with its tasks, logs and Focus sessions.
- Deleting your account (Settings → Delete account) deletes your account and everything above: contracts, logs, Focus sessions, badges, friends, nickname, avatar, Arcs Coins and leaderboard rows. Two things stay: the final results of past seasons' rankings, which are a closed record, and the days other people logged on a contract you shared, which are their data, not yours.
- To stop abuse, we keep a hashed (unreadable) form of an email address for a short time after an account email is sent to it.
Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct, delete or export your data, to restrict or object to how we use it, at contact@4arcs.app. We answer within 30 days. Most of it you can already do yourself in the app. You also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.
Children
You need to be 16 or older to create an account, and we ask for your date of birth to check it. Without an account the app keeps no name, email or birthday. If you think a child under 16 has created an account, write to us and we will delete it.
Security
Your data travels encrypted (HTTPS) and is stored on Google's infrastructure. Access rules on our database let each person read and change only what is theirs, or what someone chose to share with them.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. If a change is important, we will tell you in the app.
